About the book
The Garden Before Dawn
Before dawn, the palace belonged to women who carried numbers in their heads and keys at their waists. That was not how men described it, of course. Men who ruled things in daylight liked to imagine the dark belonged to prayer, to silence, to their own unfinished thoughts turning dignified beneath carved ceilings. They thought the empire slept and woke under their names.
